1954 visit to Washington DC

Plan to be in Washington , DC on Saturday May 22, 2004 for one of the most significant historical accounts of the decade.

The Baltimore/Washington Golden Jubilee Project Committee will host a very special and blessed event called The Golden Jubilee in honor of the 50th Anniversary of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I's visit to Washington, DC in May 1954.

The Golden Jubilee Educational Forum takes place on Saturday May 22nd at Howard University 's Blackburn Center and will focus on factual and historical accounts of His Imperial Majesty's impact on the World Community. Video and print exhibits will educate the public on His 50-day tour of the US , Canada & Mexico , His speech to Congress, and the significance of his visit during a time of racial pressure and international war.

Distinguished guests include Professor Abiyi R. Ford, Ethiopian-born Educator, and Ras Miguel Lorne, Attorney, Writer, and Orator.

Howard University is located at 2400 Sixth Street NW , Washington DC . Walking distance from the Green Line Howard University Metro Station. Doors open at 3pm. Admission is free.

Also please join us for The Golden Jubilee Musical Tribute "A night called Red, Gold & Green" taking place on Sunday May 23, 2004 at Nation, featuring Reggae's Culture Queen - Sister Carol, Traditional Ethiopian Music from Setegn Attenaw, the Nyahbinghi Drummers, Reggae Band -Soldiers of Jah Army & more.
